Parasite at Ruskin Gallery Cambridge
Artist Deborah Robinson has created Parasite after collaborating with Sanger Institute researchers Julian Rayner and Oliver BillkerPress release
Artist Deborah Robinson explored how genomics is being used to understand the biology of the parasite that causes malaria. The resulting artwork, Parasite, uses archival films that depict the 'mass eradication' campaigns which characterised attempts to control the disease in the last century. Using software developed with digital and sound artist David Strang, we see the corrosion of the archival documentary footage, reminding us of the cyclical and recurrent nature of this deadly disease.
