Disease Detectives: The case of the almost indestructible superbug

Can you stop a superbug?! Try your hand at tackling an outbreak of a drug-resistant disease at a special event at the Cambridge Science Centre!

Location: (click for map)

Cambridge Science Centre, Clifton Road Industrial Estate, Cambridge CB1 7ED

Date:

Thu 21st Nov, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm

What’s it about?

To mark World Antibiotic Awareness Week, find out first-hand how scientists tackle outbreaks of drug-resistant diseases. Scientists from the Centre for Genomic Pathogen Surveillance will be at your side to guide you and through the real techniques they use to prevent outbreaks from spreading.

The event is open to everyone, although the activities are most suitable for ages 12 and up. The Cambridge Science Centre exhibits will be open as usual so there will be plenty to keep younger siblings entertained!

What will happen?

Each session lasts 30 minutes. Please book your slot when you register for your free tickets.

You’ll have a short briefing and then move around lab and computer stations to tackle three tasks and hopefully stop the superbug getting out of control!
