Wellcome Genome Campus, Hinxton CB10 1SA

Date:

Sat 16th Feb, 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm

On the third Saturday of every month, join us at the Wellcome Genome Campus. Each month there is an afternoon of activity, and something fun for everyone! There’s a chance to visit our exhibition space, try some hands-on activities, and explore the campus to find out more about its history and the cutting-edge research that happens today.

February’s event is at the start of the half term holiday, and there’ll be lots of fun to be had! We’ve even added an extra hour to the event! Our cell biology team will be running hands-on activities for all the family; tried your hand at pipetting and look down a microscope. There will also be a chance to take a tour of their lab. Due to the layout of the lab, each tour is limited to 10 people. There will be 3 tours available: 12:30, 13:45 and 15:00. Access to the laboratory is restricted to those over the age of 14. Book your place here: www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/open-saturday-cell-biology-lab-tour-tickets-55402586628. But hurry – with only 30 places available, we think they’ll book fast!

Until April 2019 you can visit Curious Nature, an interactive exhibition for all the family. The exhibition explores the Wellcome Sanger Institute’s 25 Genomes project; sequencing 25 UK species for the first time. Discover what we could uncover and get curious about nature! Our new programme for May 2019 will be announced soon.

The event cafe will be open, selling a range of drinks and small snacks. You are welcome to bring a packed lunch with you too.

Open Saturdays are FREE for everyone but booking is required. Just hit the “Book now” button above.
